Care For You

Project Prompt: Designing an intuitive mobile application aimed at connecting individuals in need of home care assistance with qualified aides specializing in elderly or disabled care.

My Role: UX/UI Design, Conceptual thinking, Developer

Software: Figma

Responsibilities: As the sole designer and developer, I spearheaded the entire creative journey, including UX/UI design, ideation, research, conceptualization, and development, ensuring a seamless user experience and visually engaging interface.

Background idea of this app: For the past two years during the pandemic I was a personal care aide for an ill family member. Throughout my experience, I saw how hard and painful it can be to get reliable help as we struggle to manage our work and mental health over taking care of someone vulnerable. As a UX/UI designer I created a mobile app to help those who struggle with this.

“Care for You” is an app to hire personal care aides/ Home health aides. It is intended to be useful for the consumer or family giver to use the app to find qualified and matching personal care aides in their area by seeing who is available, who they are, their pay range, and background info.

In designing the styleguide for the Care for You app, I focused on creating a welcoming and trustworthy user experience. To achieve this, I opted for a color palette dominated by soothing shades of green, particularly light green. Green symbolizes growth, health, and reliability, which aligns perfectly with the app's theme of caregiving and fosters trust among users.

Additionally, I carefully curated images and symbols that exude friendliness, positivity, and compassion. These visuals aim to evoke feelings of warmth and dedication to human well-being, reinforcing the app's core message.

My design decisions were also guided by a brief study of healthcare systems, ensuring that the styleguide resonates with industry standards and user expectations. In summary, the styleguide prioritizes a positive and trustworthy atmosphere, where users feel welcomed, cared for, and assured of the app's dependability.

I developed a persona for a character who faces significant challenges when it comes to hiring care for his 80-year-old mother. Throughout his search, he encounters various pain points and obstacles that hinder his efforts to find suitable care that meets both his and his mother's needs.

I used my real life experiences to create this persona since it was something i dealt with as a user myself.

The heart, a timeless emblem of care and affection, became my inspiration as I embarked on crafting a logo that would embody the essence of love. With unwavering determination, I chose to center the design around a heart to beautifully symbolize the act of caring. As I delved deeper into the creative realm, I began sketching a web to capture the essence of my ideation process, weaving together ideas that would form the very foundation of the brand.

Next, I started to play more by designing them in Illustrator. I the colors and text I wanted them to be as simple and easy to read. I thought of green or darker green to make the app feel positive as we look at green as a positive or a go-getter color.

Both my Professor and classmates agreed on the heart shape icon for the brand.

The sketches for the Home care app began as simple, rough ideas for the homepage and the profile page. These sketches included basic layouts for the different sections of the app, as well as the various elements that would be needed to provide an easy user experience.

From here the challenge was to figure out how the Navigation and the set up would turn out to be. i took inspiration from many homecare apps that were already available and used those to template a better user experience

By creating these rough sketches, I was able to identify the most important features of the app and determine which ones should be included in the final design. Once the rough sketches were completed, they were fine-tuned and polished to create the final wireframes. This process helped ensure that the app was intuitive and user-friendly before any more digital development  began.

Rough version of the app's wireframes. from here you can see it starts off with the care needs.

For example, what kind of help?

How much help is needed each week?

what are the health conditions?

The user can pick and choose what is needed for their family or friends care.

The Final Version of our Home Care App is the culmination of months of hard work. I designed a user-friendly interface that makes it easy for users to set up an account, find help, and complete other tasks.

My professor and classmates were satisfied with the results of the user interface and user experience. We are confident that the Final Version of the Home Care App will provide users with the best possible experience and help to make their lives easier.
